Manning Land Solutions (formerly McGlashan & Crisp) is a locally owned surveying, town planning and project management practice based in Taree on the NSW Mid North Coast. Our roots in the Manning Valley extend back to 1850, making us one of the region’s longest-established professional land services practices.

Built on a strong local foundation, Manning Land Solutions proudly continues the legacy of McGlashan & Crisp — a well-respected name in surveying and planning across the Mid North Coast for more than 170 years.

Originally established by early surveyors working throughout Wingham and Taree, McGlashan & Crisp evolved through successive generations of respected professionals who played a pivotal role in shaping the region. The practice became known for accurate, dependable land surveying and subdivision work, adapting over time to meet changing industry and community needs while maintaining an unwavering commitment to precision and professionalism.

A significant milestone in the firm’s history was the leadership of Brian Crisp, who practised from 1948 and was a pioneer of the consulting surveyor model. Under his direction, the practice expanded well beyond traditional surveying to include town planning, rezonings, development approvals, civil engineering design, contract supervision and full project delivery — an integrated approach that was well ahead of its time.

The modern evolution of the practice was further shaped by Greg Crisp, who joined McGlashan & Crisp in 1991. Greg brought extensive experience, strong leadership and a deep commitment to professional standards, guiding the firm through ongoing change within the surveying and development industries while reinforcing its reputation for accuracy, reliability and trusted advice.

Over the decades, the practice has also benefited from the contribution of many highly regarded professionals, including senior surveyors Eric Gilfillan, Julian Calver, Grant Calvin, Rod Thomson, Gavin Watson, and Linda Ferguson, our planner, supported by a dedicated team of skilled technical and administrative staff.

A defining strength of the business has always been its commitment to mentoring and training young professionals — ensuring knowledge, skills and values are passed on to future generations including our newly registered surveyor, Rhys Hood.

Today, under local ownership, the practice has evolved into Manning Land Solutions, retaining the experience, knowledge and long-standing relationships that clients across the Mid North Coast and beyond have trusted for generations.

We provide services across rural and urban surveys, subdivisions, road and infrastructure projects, civil design, planning and approvals, data capture, hydrographic surveys, and building and infrastructure surveys.
